SWC Del Mar
May 24-31, 2010
The festival actually runs May 28-30, but we'll start setting up on the 24th and be tearing down until the 31st of May.
What we do:
For the Del Mar festival, we build a large wireless network using almost a mix of Linksys and Cisco gear, high gain antennas, and some huge 30-50 ft tall masts.
With this gear, we essentially build a ring around the grounds thereby creating our service backbone.
From the nodes on this backbone, we bridge off and shoot into other directions feeding various venues along the ring.
Additionally, we will be making some long cable runs (600'+) using CAT5e and some range extenders to increase our reliability, uptime, and throughput.
To signup for Del Mar, please submit your resume to infotech@spiritwestcoast.org. Due
to the nature of our work, we must prescreen all applicants.

SWC Monterey
June 26 - July 4, 2010
The festival actually runs July 1 - 3, but we'll start setting up on the 26th of June and be tearing down until the 4th* of July.
What we do:
For the Monterey festival, we build a large wired network using approximately 2000' of cable, a few range extenders, and a number of GB switches. We also have a few wireless runs with Cisco gear.
In addition to the wired network, we have a handful of mesh network devices that are deployed to blanket as much of the venue as possible with free wifi. We do this with high gain antennas and some huge 30-50 ft tall masts, but
this will be secondary to the wired network.
The setup for this festival follows more of a star topology than a ring.
To signup for Monterey, please submit your resume to infotech@spiritwestcoast.org. Due to the nature of our work, we must prescreen all applicants.
* teardown for Monterey may run longer, perhaps as late as the 5th.
